Q: Can a Retailer check my tickets?
A: We don't recommend you transfer responsibility for checking your ticket to the Retailer. Checking every player's tickets would create long line-ups, and if the prize exceeds what the Retailer has on hand, your prize claim may be delayed. So it's best to check your ticket yourself to see what prize, if any, you are entitled to.
Automated Self Serve Ticket Checkers are available at all Retail locations. They allow you to check all tickets and will display the amount of your prize and any Free Plays that have been won.
However, if you choose to have a Retailer scan your tickets for you, be sure you receive the Validation Slip that prints from the Ticket Terminal. This slip is directed to you, the player, and will display any prize you have won. If you have any concerns about the awarding of a prize, you have the right to refuse payment and take your ticket back. You can then call 1-800-665-3313 for further instructions.
Q: Can I play WCLC's games if I live outside the Prairies or Territories?
A: No. Canadian lottery jurisdictions do not sell lottery tickets outside their respective borders. Visitors can, of course, purchase tickets when visiting another lottery region, but they must claim all prizes through that region. Most lottery tickets include the name and address of the selling jurisdiction on the back of the ticket.

Q: If I win a major prize, do I need to have my picture taken?
A: Yes. According to WCLC Rules and Regulations, the Corporation has no obligation to pay or deliver a prize unless the winner gives WCLC the right to publish the winner's name, city or town of residence and/or recent photograph.

A: The notification you received was not from WCLC and we can assure you that you have not won a prize from WCLC. We do not charge taxes or service fees on any of our games. Q: What is PAYDAY?
PAYDAY is a new weekly on-line game available on the Prairies and Territories and drawn every Thursday. As PAYDAY offers a pre-determined, rather than a pari-mutuel prize structure, there are limitations to the number of Top Prize winners on a single draw. While extremely unlikely to occur, if there are five or more Top Prize winners on a draw, they would share $2,700,000.
Q: How soon will the Top Prize winner receive their $1,000 payments. Is there a payment at the time of their claim?
It takes several weeks to set up the annuity, so a Top Prize winner who chooses the annuity should expect their weekly payments to begin within 10 weeks of the prize claim. WCLC will provide the winner with an initial $10,000 prize cheque when the prize is claimed. This represents the first 10 weeks of the winner’s $1,000 payments.
Q: Do annuity winners have to pay tax on their winnings?
Unlike other Top Prizes, which are awarded with a single payment, the annuity prize does have tax implications as the income element of the annuity is taxable. The winner will receive $1,000 a week for life and an annuity provider will remit income tax to the tax authorities on that amount, on behalf of the winner. The tax remitted is based upon the highest marginal provincial or territorial and federal (Canada) income rates applying to the province or territory in which the winner resides at the time the annuity prize is claimed.
While the annuity provider ensures that the proper amount of tax is withheld for the income portion of the annuity at the time of the claim, this does not take into account any additional income that the annuitant has. Depending upon the winner’s combined annual income this may result in some winners receiving a refund at tax time while others may have to pay additional tax. Any additional tax is the responsibility of the winner. As well, future changes in tax rates or moves by the winner to another province, territory or other jurisdiction will not be accounted for by the annuity provider and will be the responsibility of the winner. Q: How are LOTTO 6/49 and LOTTO MAX Draws Conducted?
A: LOTTO 6/49 and LOTTO MAX draws are held in a private studio in Toronto, Ontario. Approximately 40 minutes after the game shutdown, the draw takes place. The 49 balls are placed in numerical order in the ball rack of the draw machine. The balls are released into a drum, which is spun for a minimum of 10 seconds before a button is pressed to release the first ball.
For LOTTO 6/49 draws, seven balls (six regular numbers and one Bonus number) are drawn. Eight balls (seven regular numbers and one Bonus number) are drawn for LOTTO MAX. One by one, each ball drops into the trap at the bottom of the drum, and an electric eye prompts its release into a chute.
When MAXMILLIONS™ draws occur on LOTTO MAX, these draws use a computerized draws system housed at the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation offices in Ontario.
Strict controls are in place at the draws, including videotaping of each draw and the presence of an external auditor, a trust officer and a draws manager who officially witness and record each draw.
Q: How are Regional Draws Conducted?
A: More than 800 draws are conducted each year for Western Canada Lottery Corporation's (WCLC) three regional games - WESTERN 649, EXTRA, PAYDAY and PICK 3. These draws are held at WCLC's Head Office in Winnipeg and are conducted on stand-alone computerized draw machines.
As with the national games, stringent controls and security measures are in place for each regional game draw. Two computerized draw machines are available for each draw, and they are located in a secure location that is monitored by video surveillance 24 hours a day. An external auditor, who oversees the draw, selects which draw machine is to be used for any given draw. Security personnel attend each draw, and all draws are videotaped using an automated time-date stamp.
The computerized draw machines' Random Number Generators were initially tested by two independent laboratories to ensure the randomness of their number selection. Draw software was also tested independently and certified as accurate. Independent testing of randomness and software continues from time to time, and it is mandatory when regional games are added or removed, or significant changes are made to existing games.

Golf: a golf game decided by two strokes or less is considered a 'Tie'; for a 'Home Win', the home player must win by three or more strokes; for a 'Visitor Win', the visiting player must win by three or more strokes.

Q: What if all regularly scheduled holes within a golf tournament cannot be completed?
A: It is not uncommon to have one, or more, rounds of a golf tournament postponed and played later in the tournament. A golf tournament is considered complete, for the purposes of PRO•LINE, if all golfers not previously eliminated, disqualified or withdrawn, complete all regularly scheduled holes within seven (7) days of the scheduled first day of the tournament; or, with respect to a seventy-two (72) hole tournament, in the event that all regularly scheduled holes cannot be completed, the said golfers complete a minimum of fifty-four (54) holes within seven (7) days of the scheduled first day of the tournament; or, with respect to a fifty-four (54) hole tournament, in the event that all regularly scheduled holes cannot be completed, the said golfers complete a minimum of thirty-six (36) holes within seven (7) days of the scheduled first day of the tournament.
Q: When I play Combo Play PRO•LINE, sometimes I can pick more than four ties and sometimes I can't. Why?
A: Players may choose a maximum of four ties per ticket in PRO•LINE. When you play a 4-Game Combo, because the five or six games you choose are played in combinations of four, you may pick ties for all the games.
However, if you add Standard Play to your 4-Game Combo ticket, you may only choose 4 ties as in a standard PRO•LINE ticket.
Q: You shut down SPORT SELECT games that already appear on your active Game List. Why aren't they available for wagering?
A: A late injury, player trade, or even bad weather can affect the likely outcome of a sporting event. Original assumptions used to set the odds may no longer be valid. When this occurs, sales for the game may be closed.
Q: What happens when a game is postponed or rained out before it is finished?
A: When games are delayed, suspended, cancelled, or called incomplete by the league governing the sport, WCLC assigns an odds value of 1.00 to the outcome for that game. In POINT SPREAD, the potential payout will be reduced to the next lowest category.
In baseball, the league considers a delayed game that cannot be resumed "official" any time after four and a half innings if the home team is leading, or five innings if the home team is losing. Once the score of the delayed game has been declared official, WCLC considers the game completed and the score at the time the game was called is the official result of the game.
Q: What is DOUBLE PLAY?
A: DOUBLE PLAY is a wagering feature that allows you to play PRO•LINE and OVER/UNDER on the same ticket, and even on the same game!
Using a DOUBLE PLAY Selection Slip, available at lottery Retailers, you choose between three and six "Picks". (A "Pick" is the prediction of one PRO•LINE or OVER/UNDER outcome. Predicting both PRO•LINE and OVER/UNDER for the same game represents two picks.)

If two people usually share the same e-mail address, and both wish to create a player profile, one will have to use a different e-mail address.

A. Yes. The MVP Service portion of our website is SSL Secured using 128-bit encryption. All information collected on the site is used for the purposes agreed to by the user, and the information collected will not be used for any other purposes. Q. I’m trying to register, but it tells me my postal code isn’t a valid entry. What’s wrong?
A. Postal codes should contain six characters with no spaces. The first, third and fifth characters must be letters (A-Z), and the second, fourth and sixth characters must be digits (0-9).
When entering your postal code, please ensure you do not include any spaces between characters. In addition, please double-check that you substitute letters for numbers (i.e. the letter "O" in place of the digit "0") or vice versa.

A. Yes. If you no longer want to be registered for MVP Service, send us an e-mail explaining your request, and we can remove your account.

Q. What's the difference between an HTML e-mail and a plaintext e-mail?
A. E-mails sent in HTML format can contain images, graphics and links within the e-mail, while plaintext e-mails only contain unformatted text, with no images, graphics or links.
Although many e-mail clients used on home or laptop computers can display either type of e-mail, plaintext e-mails are best suited for cell phones and other mobile devices. Q. What can I do if I no longer want to receive e-mails from MVP Service?
A. If you wish to make changes to your account and stop receiving winning numbers, Jackpot Alerts and other notifications by e-mail, you can simply login to your account and choose to edit your profile. In Step 3 of the “Edit Profile” process, you’ll see a green checkmark in a box beside each e-mail alert you’re currently receiving. Click the box again, and the green checkmark will disappear, and you’ll no longer receive that alert. When all the e-mail alert boxes are blank, you must agree to the MVP Service terms and conditions and privacy policy; then click “Save” for your changes to take effect.
Q. Can I delete my MVP Service account?
A. Although it’s not possible to remove your own account from MVP Service, if you no longer want to be registered, send us an e-mail explaining your request, and we can remove your account.
Q: How do I use the "Print Here" link to print pages?
A: The "Print Here" icon appears on the Past Winning Numbers pages for LOTTO 6/49, WESTERN 649, PAYDAY, LOTTO MAX and PICK 3; all KENO "Winning Numbers by Day" pages; and the current SPORT SELECT results.
This link allows users to print condensed versions of these pages. To print these pages, click on the "Print Here" link. A new window, containing a concise version of the page, will open. When you are finished printing, you can close the window by clicking the "X" in the top right hand corner of the window with your mouse.

Q. How do I print SPORT SELECT Game Lists?
A: In order to print complete SPORT SELECT Game Lists from the interactive PRO•LINE and OVER/UNDER or POINT SPREAD Game Lists, select the games and outcomes you may wish to wager on, and, if of interest, you can also select the amount you’d like to wager in order to see your potential payout (if you don’t select an amount, the form defaults to a $2 wager). Once you’ve done this, click on “Print Preview”, and a new window – containing the entire Game List for the day with your selections underlined – will appear. You can then click on “Print” at the top of the page to print the list.

Q: How do I print other pages on the site?
A: If you want to print other pages on the site, go into your "File" menu and select "Print". Once in the Print menu, change the "Properties" box to use "Landscape" orientation instead of "Portrait". However, please note that such pages were not designed to be printed, and some information may be cut off if you try to do so.
